The Dress Chronicles Vol II: Seersucker Shirtdress

June 5, 2017

Another week, another dress. Today I am sharing the second installment in my blog series “The Dress Chronicles” featuring this seersucker shirtdress that is perfect for summer! What:

A seersucker shirtdress.

Where:

A BBQ dinner with family and friends to celebrate my brother’s birthday.

Wear with:

Since I needed to have my hands free for getting lots of BBQ at the buffet, I choose one my favorite summer bags, this gold crossbody from Kate Spade. It’s the perfect size to hold your essentials and goes with absolutely everything. I have been carrying mine for 2 years, and it has held up very well. If you are looking for a small go-to bag for casual summer outfits, I would highly recommend it. Bonus: It looks great with platinum Jack Rogers.

Why:

Few things are cooler than seersucker, no pun intended. Since seersucker is woven in such a way that some of the threads bunch together, the fabric is mostly held away from the skin, which helps air circulation. It also means ironing is not necessary. Win win!

I have been looking for a seersucker dress for awhile and was so glad when I found this one from Brooks Brothers. I love the classic shirtdress style, the patriotic color combo and how lightweight it is. Best part?It has POCKETS!

I know I will be wearing this dress many times this summer, and hopefully work on my tan. That moment you realize your arms are so pale someone could be blinded from the reflection.

If you missed the first installment, check it out here.

  1. Ok- being a Floridian- I love seersucker material! So wish more fashion designers would utilize this material! Growing up almost all our summer outfits were seersucker, but has almost totally disappeared from the stores! Love, Love ❤️

  2. I too love seersucker!
You can wear this until you become a Supreme Court Justice, then you have to wear…black robes. 🙂
