How can the 4th of July be next week? It seems like yesterday was Easter. Patriotic holidays are my favorite, only after Thanksgiving, because of the food, obviously. I know some people shop for a red, white and blue look just for the 4th, but I always shop my closet. Since blue is my favorite color and I often use red as an accent, I have plenty of options to create patriotic looks from pieces I already own. Today I will be sharing two new looks along with two looks I have previously posted that would be perfect for the 4th.
First up is a casual look that would be perfect for a backyard BBQ.
Getting all of my colors in with American classics like a denim jacket and Converse.
For my second look, I went for a more laid back New England feel. This outfit still has red, white and blue in it, just more subtly.
It all started with these shorts from L.L. Bean. I bought them last summer from their flagship store in Freeport, Maine and they are one of my favorite pair. The washed chino is extremely comfortable, the color is a little softer than your typical “Nantucket Red” and they are on sale!
For the top I’m wearing a classic Ralph Lauren oxford, then I added French sailor stripe top from L.L. Bean. This was another purchase from my trip to Maine. These sailor shirts are my go to stripe shirt in the fall, or when I want a little warmth for layering. For some reason it wouldn’t link into the widget, but you can find it here.
If you need to carry anything with you, just add a Boat & Tote.
My third look is one of my favorites I have shared on the blog to date. This adorable seersucker dress is perfect for the 4th!
I originally shared this dress in this post at the beginning of the month. If your plans for the 4th find you out in the heat, this is a great option! The seersucker material is lightweight and the puckered texture keeps it away from your skin which helps airflow.
This is one of my favorite dresses for summer. It’s super cute and perfect for the hot weather.
Another option is just wear some of your favorite navy and white pieces with red accessories. For this look, I paired my all time favorite navy stripe tee with a white scalloped skirt and navy and white Jacks. For the pops of red I added a red purse and lip.
