Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a great weekend and are ready to jump into the work week. Today I am sharing a great longsleeved sheath dress that is perfect for the office.
What: A longsleeved sheath dress in a great shade of magenta.
Where: Workday in an office with a more professional dress code.
Wear with: For this look, I wanted the dress to stand out and stuck with classic black accessories. My Sam Edelman heels are on the high side, but very comfortable. I add Dr. Scholls’ pads at the ball of the foot and can wear them all day. I once walked 5miles around Washington DC in these heels and wasn’t sore at the end of the day. Yes, I am wearing hose. Though it’s not something you see often these days, I rarely wear a dress in the winter without something on my legs. Finally, I wanted a classic bag in black that could hold everything I needed for a day at the office, since I didn’t need my laptop. I shopped my favorite designer handbag boutique, my mom’s closet. Mom has great taste, a huge handbag collection and is always willing to let me borrow a bag. Yeah, she’s the best.
Why: I am either working from home in leggings and my favorite Barefoot Dreams cardigan or taking meetings in formal office attire. Rarely anything in between. When I am in the office, I like to wear dresses. I feel pulled together and it’s one thing to put on so I can get out the door fast in the mornings. Anyone who has lived with me will tell you that I am NOT a morning person and will do anything to streamline my routine so I can get just 5 more minutes in bed. Since we have warm weather for three seasons in Georiga, I don’t many longsleeved dresses in my arsenal. Any professional office girl will tell you that finding dresses that can cut it in a “suits only” workplace can be a challenge. I was excited to find this one from J.Crew because it had the length and fit I was looking for, but with long sleeves! I took my regular size in a tall to get the length I wanted. I also ordered it in a regular black and ended up returning it because it hit me in an odd place. Keeping my accessories in classic silhouettes and black finished off the look and balanced the pop of the dress. My heels are truly a shoe you can wear all day. I haven’t tried running in them (I have won foot races at the office in heels, but that’s a story for another time) but I have walked 5miles in them and wasn’t in any pain at the end of the day. The bag I am carrying is the black Prada medium Cuir tote with “rosy blush” lining. I have linked the bag here and with red lining in the widget below.
Hope y’all have a great week!
