Happy Monday everyone! You know what irony is? Writing a blog post about blogging more consistently and then not blogging for a week. WordPress issues plus the day job slowed my roll last week. But we are back and off with a fantastic dress for this installment of “The Dress Chronicles”. I am so excited to be showing this classic piece that can go from your desk to a dinner date with ease.

What: The iconic Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress in black (which is on sale for 55% off).

Where: This dress is a workwear staple. The jersey material is lightweight and travels well. I have rolled a DVF wrap in my suitcase for many work trips and it never disappoints.

Wear with: For this look, I went with all black and a trench coat. What’s up me dressing like a spy lately? After looking at several trench coats, and drolling over the options from Burberry, I bought my new trench coat from Land’s End. It has been a fantastic addition to my wardrobe! I wanted something that was more on the stone end of the color spectrum, instead of khaki and was knee length. Most trench coats are midthigh length but I find that the knee length gives an extra polish. I will need to do a separate post on it soon.  For the rest of this look, I went with my staples. Black pointed toe heels, classic jewelry, Prada bag and my Wayfarers.

Why: The Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress is an iconic piece every woman should have in her wardrobe. Originally designed by Diane in 1974, this dress was an instant hit. Women then, and today, love the easy fit that can be adjusted to fit our figure at the moment. The wrap dress always fits, no matter how much dessert you had the night before. Sign me up! You can read more about the fascinating history of the DVF wrap dress here.  Another reason this dress is such a staple is that it is great for work and can easily transition to dinner. Replace the earrings with some sparkle and a clutch in place of the work bag and you’re all set.

I have often said that Diane von Furstenberg is a sorceress because her dresses are woven with magic. I swear confidence is woven into each dress. I own 5 DVF dresses and every single one of them makes me feel like a million dollars.

Have a great week and make sure you walk with confidence, no matter what you’re wearing.
